Even and Odd Numbers

Around us we find many countable things.

Numbers from 0 to 9 are given below.

Let’s find out if the number odd or even?

How many balls do we see here?

 

We see 8 balls here.

Let’s put these balls in pairs.

We are able to put above balls in pairs and there is no left over.Therefore,

 Numbers that can be divided evenly into group of two are even numbers.

The number 8 can be divided into four groups of two.

Now , how many balloons do we see here?

We see 7 balloons here.

Let’s put these balloons in pairs.

 

After putting the balloons in pairs, one balloon is left. Therefore,

 Numbers that cannot be divided evenly into group of two are odd numbers.

The number 7 can be divided into 3 groups of two and one group of one.

Note:

Even numbers always end with a digit of 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8.

Therefore 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30 ………. are even numbers.

 Odd numbers always end with a digit of 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9.

Therefore 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29, 31, 33 ………. are odd numbers.
